Becoming a Foster Parent
Foster children in Santa Clara County are from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds and are oftentimes the victims of child abuse and neglect. There are over 1200 children who are in need of foster families to love and care for them.
Foster Parents can be single or married. They can be two parent or same gender families, with or without children. They come from all different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. If you are at least 18 years old and live in Santa Clara County, you can make a difference in the life of a child.
The first step to becoming a Licensed Foster Home is to contact the Department of Family and Children's Services to set up an orientation to see if fostering children is right for you and your family. You may contact the agency either by phone or through the internet.
